Quality Manager

Location: Wolverhampton / On Site

We’re looking for an experienced Operational Quality Manager to lead the Quality function within a specialist engineering company at the forefront of designing and manufacturing bespoke equipment for the nuclear industry.

This is a unique opportunity to join a highly specialised organisation dedicated to supplying containment systems, shielding doors, gloveboxes, and mechanical handling equipment to some of the UK’s most high-profile nuclear projects. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring that these products meet exacting standards of quality, performance, and regulatory compliance.

Working closely with Department Leads, you’ll lead a multidisciplinary team responsible for operational quality and inspection. You will drive process improvements and embed robust quality systems that support the full product lifecycle.

This role is ideal for a quality professional who combines technical excellence with strong leadership and thrives in a niche manufacturing environment where quality and safety are paramount.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead implementation and improvement of quality assurance processes that align with manufacturing standards and client requirements.
  • Use root cause analysis to develop preventative action plans and diagnose non-conformities.
  • Conduct regular quality audits and inspections.
  • Manage team of quality professionals including inspection and operational quality teams. Establish KPI’s, facilitate training programs, ensure SQEP protocols are followed and manage team admin tasks.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Engineering and other departments and represent Quality department in production meetings.
  • Foster culture of continuous improvement through reporting, lean manufacturing principles and feedback.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Proven record of Quality Management in a manufacturing environment (essential)
  • Already have or willing to obtain SC clearance (essential)
  • Degree in a relevant discipline (Quality, Engineering, Nuclear etc)
  • Strong understanding of ISO standards, Sigma Six/Lean practice
  • Quality Management systems experience (process audits, root cause analysis)
  • Desirable: understanding of calibration control systems/quality related software programmes
