Scantec Recruitment are working in partnership with a global FMCG Packaging manufacturer to recruit a Mechanical Technician for their Wrexham factory. This is a fantastic business where you can develop your career through formal qualifications and training.  

In this role you’ll be working as part of a multi-disciplined Engineering team, you will focus on asset reliability to improve the overall reliability & efficiency in the department. 

Shifts: 

Continental Days & Nights (2 Days / 2 Nights, 4 off) with a 10x day break. This increases to 18x day breaks in the summer. Overtime available (X1.5 / X2)

Mechanical Technician – Summary of responsibilities: 

  • Participate in CI / SMED activities within the department 
  • Diagnose machine breakdown faults – mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, process 
  • Permitting compliance with safety requirements and liaison and coordination with other Departments as required 
  • Execute planned and unplanned maintenance activities to agreed standards 
  • Reports resources and time utilised, job scope expansion, rework or deferred maintenance as required whilst keeping all tasks & activities logged and updated 
  • Resolve equipment problems, by utilising problem-solving techniques and basic Root cause analysis to develop solutions 
  • Provide Technical Support to all machine breakdowns and changeovers as required 
  • Support in the setting and maintaining of machine processes to ensure Zero Defects and maximum machine performance. 

Ideal skills, qualifications and experience: 

We’re seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer / Technician, ideally apprentice trained to ONC / HNC / C&G Level 3. You must be able to read Hydraulics / pneumatics circuits and be able to read and produce mechanical drawings. A background in FMCG or fast paced manufacturing would be preferred although not essential.
