Principal Electrical Engineer

We are recruiting for a client seeking an experienced and client-focused Principal Electrical Engineer to join their team. This role requires a high level of technical expertise, leadership, and project delivery capabilities. The successful candidate will support the client in delivering engineering solutions for complex projects while maintaining the highest standards of quality and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical input for electrical discipline projects and proposals, including the preparation, review, and approval of engineering documentation.
- Oversee project delivery, including task allocation and monitoring progress to meet timelines and objectives.
- Deliver electrical engineering solutions to meet schedule, budget, and client satisfaction requirements.
- Ensure compliance with applicable national and international standards, legislation, and company or client procedures.
- Prepare technical specifications and requisitions for equipment such as HV and LV switchboards, transformers, UPS systems, VFDs, motors, power factor correction systems, trace heating, and lighting.
- Develop detailed installation scopes of work.
- Review supplier quotations and prepare comprehensive technical bid assessments.
Required Competencies:
- HV (33kV and below) system design and detailed design of large electrical networks.
- HV protection systems, including schematics, grading studies, and protection settings schedules.
- Earthing calculations and system design.
- Power system analysis, including fault level calculations and load flows.
- Specification and selection of electrical equipment, particularly for hazardous areas.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent; Chartered Engineer status is highly desirable.
- Extensive experience delivering electrical engineering projects in regulated industries such as Nuclear, Defence, or Oil & Gas.
- Proficiency in industry-specific software for electrical design and analysis (e.g., ETAP, SKM).
- Familiarity with international codes, standards, and safety regulations.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with a proven ability to engage effectively with clients and stakeholders.
