Job Specification: Civil and Structural CAD Designer
Contract Type: Outside IR35
Location: Manchester / Home-Based Working
Role Overview
We are recruiting for a Civil and Structural CAD Designer to support a variety of projects, primarily within the oil and gas sector. You will join a collaborative team, working both independently and under minimal supervision to produce high-quality design deliverables. Experience in related industries, such as transportation, water, or highways, is advantageous.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce civil and structural CAD designs, including 3D models, technical drawings, and sketches for both temporary and permanent works.
- Prepare detailed designs in 2D/3D using E3D and AutoCAD (experience with Microstation and Civil 3D is an advantage).
- Work within a file management system or Common Data Environment, ensuring technical accuracy and compliance with budget and schedule requirements.
- Maintain and develop awareness of current codes, standards, and procedures, ensuring all work aligns with relevant regulations.
- Implement company and client/project-specific policies and procedures.
- Collaborate effectively with other disciplines to clearly define and design interfaces.
- Liaise with internal departments, project personnel, vendors, and clients as needed.
Candidate Requirements
- Qualified to City & Guilds or HNC/HND level in Civil/Structural Engineering or a related field.
- Professional qualification (e.g., EngTech or IEng ICE) is advantageous.
- Proficient in E3D and AutoCAD, with experience in 3D modeling, 2D drafting, clash detection, and model reviews.
- Knowledge of foundations, below-ground infrastructure (e.g., drainage, cable ducting), steel, concrete, and reinforced concrete detailing.
- Familiarity with 4D simulation software is beneficial.
- Strong understanding of relevant standards, codes, and procedures.
Working Arrangements
- Based in Manchester with the option for home-based working.
- Occasional travel to other offices and sites may be required, in line with project needs.
