Requirements Engineer
About the Role
We are partnering with a leading consultancy that provides engineering solutions and operational support to some of the UK’s most prominent defence contractors. Due to sustained growth, we are seeking an experienced Requirements Engineer to join their team. This is a contract role, Hybrid, requires SC Clerance as a minimum and can be Outside of Scope of IR35 – Pending Determination.
In this role, you will play a vital part in capturing, analysing, documenting, and managing project requirements while collaborating closely with Project Managers, Engineering Task Managers, and multidisciplinary teams. Your expertise in Systems Engineering methods, tools, and processes will ensure that projects meet stakeholder expectations and are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Project Requirements
- Develop and implement strategies to meet project objectives, ensuring deliverables are on time, within budget, and aligned with quality standards.
- Act as a central point of collaboration, fostering teamwork and supporting project objectives across departments.
- Provide leadership and guidance to systems engineering teams, driving project success.
- Uphold the highest standards of safety, security, environmental, and quality practices while promoting collaboration and cooperation.
Technical Competency
- Apply your expertise as a skilled DOORS practitioner with a minimum of 5 years of commercial and 5 years of government experience.
- Draft use cases and employ modelling and simulation techniques to explore problem domains and potential system solutions.
- Develop long-term strategies based on Systems Engineering best practices (e.g., INCOSE) to support all phases of the project lifecycle.
- Document processes, identify and implement improvements, and manage sub-system integration.
- Deliver clear and concise written reports and verbal briefings to stakeholders and project management teams.
- Stay informed on the latest Systems Engineering methodologies and practices.
Skills and Experience
- Solid understanding of the MoD Systems Engineering Framework. - Essential
- Ability to engage with clients and contractors to develop, oversee, and manage requirements from initial concept to handover. - Essential
- Proficient in applying the Systems Engineering “V” model. - Essential
- Demonstrated capability to lead requirement elicitation, development, and approval processes. - Essential
- SC Clearance (with the ability to obtain DV Clearance). Applicants must have been a British national for the past 10 years. - Essential
- Proficiency with DOORS (preferred but not mandatory).- Desirable
- Familiarity with documenting and improving processes, including the integration of sub-systems.-Desirable
