Senior Mechanical Engineer
Due to continued growth, opportunities have arisen for Senior Mechanical Engineer to support a large UK Nuclear Sector Client on a long term contract. This contract role requires SC Clearance , offering a hybrid work model, with a minimum of 2 days in the office every 2 weeks and can be Outside IR35 (pending determination).
Role Overview:
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering mechanical engineering projects, collaborating with internal teams and group company colleagues. This role will involve the production and management of technical project deliverables, offering technical oversight on sub-contract work, and participating in design reviews. You will also play a key role in bid support and ensure effective communication across all project stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Originate, prepare, and deliver project documentation and engineering design deliverables.
- Provide technical oversight on sub-contract packages of work.
- Attend and actively contribute to engineering/project meetings.
- Participate in and contribute to sub-contractor/client design reviews.
- Check and review engineering and project deliverables, offering constructive feedback.
- Provide bid support and help shape technical proposals.
- Ensure clear and effective communication with all team members.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Proficiency in interpreting mechanical engineering drawings.
- Experience in optioneering and developing project requirements.
- Experience in producing PP&E concept designs.
- Authoring engineering documentation (e.g., optioneering reports, basis of design, calculation reports).
- Experience working in highly regulated industries.
- Experience with glovebox systems design.
- HVAC or nuclear ventilation experience.
- Experience with Inventor or other solid modelling CAD software.
Qualifications:
- Educated to a degree level or equivalent in a technical discipline. Essential.
- Understanding of the project lifecycle and how projects are delivered within Clients. Essential
- Basic knowledge of the UK Nuclear Industry. Essential
- Membership in an appropriate technical/professional body. Desirable.
- Familiarity with radiological controls in projects delivered by Client .Desirable
- Comfortable handling confidential and commercial information. Desirable
