Due to considerable investment and growth, Scantec are working with a leading Manufacturing business in Rothesay on the Isle of Bute, to recruit a Multi Skilled Engineer (Electrical) for their site. It's an exciting time as this business goes from Strength to strength and will create some excellent opportunities for Engineers who wish to progress their career with an expanding business.

We're looking for candidates who are able to either commute to and from the Island or perhaps look to stay / relocate. 

Ideally you'll have experience from within a fast paced manufacturing environment. Full product and machine-based training will be given. This will involve the maintenance of high speed packaging and labelling machinery.

Working Hours:

Days, Monday to Friday
40 hours per week
Start times are flexible, between 7am-9.30am, finish times between 4pm / 6pm

First / Initial interview to be telephone based followed by a site interview / factory tour.

Maintenance Engineer – Summary of core responsibilities:

  • Ensure that maintenance work complies with statutory Engineering standards and requirements, using own knowledge and the support of other engineers.
  • Perform fault diagnosis, maintenance and servicing work safely and efficiently in accordance with manufacturers' instructions.
  • Read and extract information from engineering drawings, specification diagrams and maintenance manuals.
  • Prepare the work area for maintenance of plant, systems or components.
  • Reinstate the work area after completing the maintenance of plant, systems and components.
  • Conduct safe and effective handover of plant and equipment to others and accept and confirm responsibility for the control of plant and equipment within the work area isolation boundary.
  • Use site maintenance systems to ensure all maintenance documentation is completed and archived in accordance with site procedures.
  • Use the Engineering planning system, report progress and give accurate updates to engineering colleagues daily.

Experience and knowledge required:

We're seeking an experienced Engineer with a good level of Engineering qualifications (NVQ, or HNC) - electrical biased but with mechanical knowledge. An 18th edition qualification and good understanding of PLC's would be advantageous.
