Principal Electrical Engineer

We are recruiting on behalf of our client, a key player in the oil and gas industry, for an exciting opportunity as a Lead Electrical Engineer supporting a high-profile pre-FEED study. This critical project focuses on repurposing and re-lifing an existing terminal and includes electrical network rationalisation, new substation design, optioneering, and cost estimation. The role offers a flexible working arrangement and a chance to thrive in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Allocate and oversee work to ensure timely delivery against project objectives.
  • Deliver high-quality electrical engineering tasks within schedule, budget, and to client satisfaction.
  • Ensure compliance with national and international codes, practices, legislation, and company/client standards.
  • Manage obsolescence and produce detailed surveys, load lists, equipment specifications, equipment sizing calculations, and scopes of work for equipment refurbishment.
  • Engage in technical discussions and reviews with clients and stakeholders.
  • Strong knowledge of design practices and installation requirements in the discipline.
  • Significant engineering experience in the Oil & Gas sector.
  • Extensive knowledge of UK legislation, standards, and HSE requirements.
  • Expertise in installing equipment in process plants involving potentially explosive areas.
  • Experience in risk identification, quantification, and management.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Electrical/Electronic/Control Engineering (apprenticeships may be considered).
  • Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status or working towards it.
  • Highly motivated with exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Strong commitment to safety and risk management practices.
