Senior EC&I Engineer- Contract- Hybrid- Berkshire- Outside of Scope of IR35

We are representing a leading organization that specialises in delivering consultancy services, engineering solutions, and site operations support to top Defence contractors in the UK. With rapid and continued growth, our client has an  exciting opportunity for a Senior EC&I Engineer to join their dynamic team.

As a Senior EC&I Engineer you would need a strong background in design substantiation. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of producing robust CE&I design concepts, substantiating control systems, and ensuring compliance with relevant standards and client requirements. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on challenging projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Substantiate control systems in accordance with industry regulations and standards.
  • Collaborate with clients and contractor organizations to establish substantiating evidence for design concepts.
  • Develop CE&I design concepts, including Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), Block Connection Diagrams (BCDs), and cable schedules.
  • Ensure proficiency in control system hardware and software, meeting functional safety requirements.
  • Manage project schedules and budgets, completing designs within defined timelines.
  • Prepare design justification reports to address technical risks.
  • Develop functional safety and controls design documentation, including FDS and SIDD.
  • Provide necessary information for manufacturing processes.
  • Review in-house and subcontract drawing documentation for accuracy and compliance.
  • Produce CE&I technical specifications and commissioning documentation.
  • Manage subcontract suppliers and oversee commissioning activities.

Requirements:

  • Experience substantiating control systems in a highly regulated industry is essential.
  • Preference for experience in glovebox design and nuclear safety case development.
  • DV clearance preferred, but SC clearance is essential for the role.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing project requirements and deadlines.

This position offers hybrid working with 2 days based at site, and a working 9 day fortnight.
