When joining a new business or starting any new job, the first few weeks are busy with training, coaching and packed with learning opportunities. However, over time as we get to grips with our new roles, quite often we become busy with the day-to-day job and taking time out to focus on developing ourselves can fall by the wayside, as can investment in staff training in many businesses.
There is a saying that the pace of change has never been as slow as it is today. I think we’d all agree that we’ve faced an extraordinary amount of change over the last year especially but as the world around us continues to evolve and technology continues to evolve at a rapid pace, it’s ever more important that we as businesses and individuals take time to upskill, learn and develop in order to remain relevant and competitive.
This week marks ‘Learning at Work’ week and is a chance to reflect on how we promote lifelong learning at every stage of careers.
At Scantec, we not only have a through and structured induction and training programme for all our new starters, but we invest in a formal qualification through the British Institute of Recruiters for all Consultants who are new to the business. Our experienced Consultants also have the opportunity to work towards more advanced training courses to support continued learning and development throughout their career. This, combined with our structured competency framework, allows our people to continue to progress, no matter how long they have worked in our business.
This month, to coincide with ‘learning at Work’ week, we are also re-launching a refreshed programme of ‘lunch and learn’ sessions for our teams. These sessions enable our teams to benefit from the knowledge of colleagues from across the business who have areas of expertise where they can add value and provide support to others in order to learn from each other while upskilling.
We believe in encouraging our teams to take self-development and learning opportunities and commit to lifelong learning throughout their careers with us.
